QFAH and Block #4

I finished Block #4 of the Primitive Garden bom from Primitive Gatherings last night. The tails on the crows are left unstitched until the quilt is put together so they will be stitched onto the sashing blocks. The picture is rather dark -- but it's a trumpet vine wrapped around a shovel.

So today it took me two hours to prep Block #5 -- there's a lot more pieces. vbg
And then I spent an hour and a half on Judy's QFAH. I wanted to finish the 68 flying geese blocks, so it took a bit longer. It was nice to sit and piece a bit today.

I also planted 3 new mum plants this afternoon (after we had frost last night, it is supposed to warm up into the 80's next week!). And I pinned my double four patch quilt back on the machine. I'm going to do some freehand leaves, flowers, peacock feathers, whatever in the larger squares. This quilt will be a kind of practice quilt for me. We'll see how it turns out.

Gratitudes:
The first fire of the season in the kitchen fireplace this morning. Wonderfully toasty.
A lazy Saturday to spend in the sewing room.
My longarm machine.

JT, your block is gorgeous! I really love this quilt! The prep work on applique is not my favorite part, but with out it done properly the applique can become a daunting task instead of an enjoyable venture.

This is progressing so nicely, I love the look of applique and enjoy doing it, but these days my hands don't cooperate as well as they used to, so it takes much longer if I even attempt to do it.

Your block looks great, I spent the day working on Blk 1 of this same BOM, I got my first two blks at once about one month ago and then yep today blk 3 arrived...
I posted on my blog today about blk one and some of my frustrations lol.. but I do love this quilt, and I am enjoying watching you guys who are doing it as well.. mine is the wool applique on cotton blocks...I think I am just realllllly slow compared to some of you guys LOL.

Your block turned out beautifully. My folks lefted yesterday, so I've started catching up. You've been so busy. I'm about to start the watering can block myself. My favorite season is on it's way.
