A finished top

I finished the broken dishes top today and pieced the backing, so it is all ready to quilt.  Not perfect, but it will keep someone warm for sure.

Then, as I was cleaning up my mess, I found a bunch more blocks already made - 30 of them and a ton of blocks that were already cut out.  So, I sat down and started stitching them together.  This is what happens when you fail to plan.  I had been cutting out blocks and stitching them together just for fun.  Then I found a whole container of blocks that I had cut out previously.

So, now I have enough blocks for another whole broken dishes quilt.  I just need to cut about 20 more lights to go with the darks.  And from here on in, I will PLAN instead of just slapping things together!  I really wasn't in the mood to make two of the same quilts one right after the other!

So, speaking of planning:

I now have a plan! My goal for 2022 is to use up as much of this fabric in this cabinet that I can.  There is going to be a lot of red in the next few quilts!  I think this cabinet probably has the oldest fabric I have, so it's time to use it up.  I have an idea for another quilt for the homeless using the red and the lights too.

And on another note:

My grandson has been playing in a 2 day volleyball tournament this weekend, and his team are the champions!  Congrats AJ!

Until next time....blessings.
