Got a late start today as I had to run to the grocery store -- they are predicting snow and ice tonight and tomorrow. I had planned on going to the store tomorrow, after my chiropractic appt - but if we get the snow/ice, I will be canceling the appt!
So, today I quilted the little flag quilt - took no time at all. Managed to clean the bathroom downstairs as it was running!
Had to make binding - that's one thing about not making binding when you make the quilt -- there is no fabric leftover to use because I'd already used any leftovers somewhere else. And, let that be a lesson -- don't wait years to quilt something! Anyway, had to dig around for something that I could use.
That blue strip hanging out of the bag on the right is what I used, because I also had another piece of it, so there was enough. What do you do with your leftover binding pieces? Obviously, I bag them up (and I think I have another bin of them somewhere! Never throw anything away! Aaarrrgh! I do have a plan to use these though - I cut all my bindings 2-1/2" wide, so I'll press the ones I don't use up in quilts, and make quilts using 2-1/2" strips!
So, now I have 3 quilts waiting for bindings - although I did do 2 sides of the big one last night, so hopefully I can get one done tonight.
Then, I loaded another quilt that I happened to find a piece of fabric for the backing out of stash today.
This one is only 27" square, so won't take any time to quilt either. This is either a Kim Diehl, or Jo Morton quilt - I joined both groups at Quilter's General Store in Rockford a few years ago and I can't remember which it is -- but I think Kim Diehl.
I'll probably quilt it tomorrow.
Then I found a kit to make the rest of the afternoon. First, I dislike sewing - no garment construction; I don't like making tote bags or anything else - I quilt, I don't sew. That being said, I pulled a kit to make a heart shaped oven mitt. I spent more than an hour on it, screwed it up and tossed the whole thing! Give me a 100" x 100" quilt any day -- but don't expect me to sew something simple! 😄
Until next time....blessings.
