Aaaah...First Fire of the Season

Well, technically it was the last fire of summer because it was Friday morning -- but who cares?! It was wonderful. 'Course, it's warmed up since then, so we haven't had another one yet, but by the end of the week we should be able to again. This was the smartest thing we've ever done -- had a fireplace built into the eating area of the kitchen -- and if I ever build another house, I'd do it again!

Spent the last two days babysitting AJ (and he completely wore us out), so got nothing else done. Today I hope to spend an hour folding fabric -- that has become a new project for me -- re-organizing my fabric cabinets and re-folding the fabric. Then, maybe work an hour on the hour a day quilt (I know -- it's still September, but we're going to be out of town for a week in October, so I need to work on it now - how's that for an excuse?) Oh, and I also want to spend some time hand appliqueing -- probably during the Bears game today.

1. The kitchen fireplace.

2. AJ - what a treasure a 2½ year old is. What a blast it is to watch his mind work.

3. Patience and humor.

Your kitchen fireplace is so cosy. I went to a store yesterday and bought myself a fireplace. Hope to get it installed before it gets too cold. I did not have one in my new house and wanted to have something extra going with the electricity.

The fire looks oh so cozy. What a treat to have it in the kitchen -- where we spend so much time.

Ha! Yes, patience and humor goes hand in hand with watching a toddler!

My Nana had a 12(?) burner woodstove in her kitchen and we did too - when I was little, for years and years. But, alas, I personally don't have a woodstove or fireplace as for some silly reason it makes my insurance sky high. Enjoy yours!

Oh now doesn't that look cozy! I would never have thought to put a fireplace in the kitchen - oh does that look nice!

We haven't had our first fire this year yet but I'm am really looking forward to it. We're going to get up to the condo at least a couple nights in the next 2-3 weeks so I think I'll plan a night in front of the fire with the scrabble game.
