More Windmills

Today I started on another windmill quilt for a homeless person.  And this time, the goal besides keeping someone warm is to use stash.  So I pulled some light fabrics -- not white on white.  I cut enough for 80 blocks of windmills and didn't even make a dent in the fabric stack!

Then I pulled some red fabrics (I opened the cabinet door and have two shelves full of red fabrics, so this quilt will be all reds and lights!)

The first 10 blocks are put together.  There will be lots of repeat red fabrics in this quilt as well as a lot of the same light fabric.  I tried to cut from the smaller pieces of fabric, but I still ended up with a lot of the same fabrics, so I'll just be trying to spread them throughout the quilt.  I still have to cut 20 more blocks of the reds, but my back was bothering me, so I'm done for the day.

I'm hoping my backache is actually from too much fat in the belly and not stenosis.  And in that hope, I decided it's way past time to lose the weight.  I've been saying that for years and years -- and I start and give up pretty quickly.  I really have no excuse not to exercise as I have an entire gym in my basement:

I've always agreed with the saying: "start where you are", meaning don't wait til Monday, or the first of the month, or another date, or after a party with food, or whatever.  And, I read somewhere that if you start now, in a year you'll be better off, whereas, if you quit again and only do the wishful thinking thing, in a year you will be right where you are now.  So, with that in mind, I did spend some time on the bike, treadmill and the weight machine today.  I'm not going to try to do too much at one time, so the goal is only to do something every day -- so if I only have time for 10 minutes on the bike, it's better than nothing and I'll still be better off a year from now if I only do 10 minutes a day! Consistency is the key.  And I usually never make it even a month, so I'm going to keep in mind that the goal is being better in a year!  And I'm posting this here to remind myself!

We're supposed to get another snow storm this weekend - 5-9" I've heard so far - so I will be spending my time working on the red windmill quilt!

Until next time....blessings.
