Anyhow, for years I've been fighting his shedding, difficulty in bathing him, and picking up leaves and stuff that cling to his coat when he comes in from outside. And, finally, it occurred to me to have him groomed -- I told the groomer to make him look like a real Jack Russell (she wasn't even sure he was a JR until she clipped his coat yesterday!). so, here he is in all his glory -- looks like a completely different dog and he wasn't real happy about it at all yesterday, but he's getting used to it and so are we. I'm looking forward to not having to clean up after him so much!

I would never have guessed this is the same dog. Reminds me of when we had our Maltese groomed and he always looked like he was embarrassed by his closely clipped look.
Oh my what a difference!
We have Chesty groomed and keep him shorter than the typical Bichon because it's easier to manage but since moving to Minneapolis, I do try to leave him a little more hair in the winter.
Ransom gets a buzz cut every summer--- May 1st. We keep him in closer on cold days. But his 2 inch long hair is too much of a battle not too. He is miserable when it gets hot if we don't. Plus there is the bug factor living out in the woods. We can easily give him the once over without all the thick hair. JR will appreciate it on hot days-- promise.
Are you sure you really got JR back and not some other dog? VBG I think he'll have a more comfortable summer with the new do.
Jeanne's funny! Maybe two dogs got switched! He looks good though even if he doesn't like it.
