Rise and Shine

It's February 1 -- I'm tired of looking at the snowman collection, including quilts, so after I cleaned house, I changed the quilts I have hanging around and some of the table runners. This one is hanging in the kitchen. This quilt was on the cover of the very first Quilt Sampler magazine and was designed by the Country Threads gals. I fell in love with it right off and had to make it -- in fact I made 4 of them and gave 3 of them away. Nowadays....I would not make more than 1 of most every quilt I make -- gets pretty boring! I do like making quilts that have lots of different elements in them and with a variety in the size of the blocks. I enjoy the writing on them, too -- but these words were appliqued on. I'll have to add trying out Tonya's letter blocks to my list of things I want to try because I like the pieced letter blocks, too!

What a cheery quilt to see in the morning. I might actually open my eyes instead of just going through the motions if I had something like that.

I hear you about making more than one quilt the same... I have enough trouble making enough blocks the same for an all-over pattern quilt!

Love your quilt Joanne..and believe it or not, I have that sampler magazine..the first...LOL..and it's the only one I have. Friend Betsy continues to buy them, but i so rarely travel it doesn't seem worth. I'm think my Candles in the Cabin might just be in THAT magazine..*VBS* Anyway, I do love that quilt too, but have neve never been ambitious enought to make it.

Joanne, I had that Rise and Shine quilt marked on a to-do list. I don't know why I didn't...I made lots of their others. Yours is terrific.

I remember that magazine and this quilt. I still have the magazine and the directions. I fell in love with this quilt but have yet to make it. Four of them - very impressive!

I love quilts that have a mixture of applique and pieced blocks, but never seem to make any. I look forward to seeing the letters (and houses).

It looks great! I've used that sun pattern before for other quilts that needed a sun! It is great isn't it!
