Sunday's doin's

Today I baked cookies (I needed to try out a couple of recipes for chocolate cookies!) It was a tough job, but someone had to do it! Have you ever had chocolate cutout cookies? They are excellent! I got the recipe here: http://www.penzeys.com/cgi-bin/penzeys/recipes/r-penzeyscocoacutouts.html (actually, I got the recipe from their catalog -- they have the coolest catalog for spices - comes with recipes!

Anyway, spent the day baking cookies and watching the Bears lose -- waaah! Then stopped to take a picture of our Christmas tree this year: we have a 7.5 footer that I put the lights on the first year and DH stores in the shed in a huge box that he built for it, that takes the loader on the farm tractor to lift and haul onto the back porch so it can go in the library. We are not having Christmas at our house and DH was not looking forward to hauling it out, so I stuck this little 3 footer on a table, added a string of lights and there ya go! It'll suffice!

I took a picture of one of my Christmas quilts, too. This one was a mystery quilt way back when - probably about 7 or 8 years ago - it was an Inspector Cluesew mystery online. And, being a Maverick, I did mine with Christmas scraps! I love it -- it's one of my favorite quilts. It is folded over the back of the couch with a couple of my previous life's hobby - cross-stitched pillows.

Oh Joanne, I love your little tree. Really cute. I'm eyeing up that Christmas quilt too. Very nice as well. Under the tree...is that a full sized quilt as well?

Baking cookies. You poor dear! ;o)

Great substitute tree, and good thinking since you are gone anyway..!

I like the christmas quilt...trying to remember..is it a Jewel Box pattern or is that Jacob's ladder??? Either way, I love the design and especially the scrappiness!!

Ok, ok, ok - enough inspiration already! LOL! I think that belonging to this Maverick group makes it imperative that I do a Christmas quilt like this, don't you? So which is it? Jewelbox or Jacob's ladder?

It's the Jewel Box pattern -- but really, I can visualize a Jacob's ladder Christmas quilt, too!

Wow you have been busy while I was away! I love your pineapple blossom quilts. I have a friend who is almost done with her Jane by hand. She does it in the evening while watching tv - she can't concentrate on cutting accurately after a day with the kids. So she does machine and rotary work on the wekeends.

love that Christmas quilt. I've never seen jewel box put together with sashing and cornerstones. I like the affect.

Your little tree is just perfect! And I love your Christmas quilt! I've always wanted to do a scrap quilt in that design. Ohhhh, the things I want to do and have time to do just don't match up!

I think 1/2 of Christmas in Austria is how many different types of cookies you make -so you would fit right in over here with your new recipes!

Love that Christmas quilt. Maybe that will be my summer project - Christmas quilts, but I just haven't seen any holiday fabric on-line this year that I like.

Cheers!
